Should we only take care of ourselves?

The most frequent ideas that come up to my mind is that if we, as believers and educated people should take social responsibilities. From my point of view, we definitely should take care of others rather than ourselves. Here are some reasons.

Firstly, taking care of others is to take care of ourselves no matter if people are able to realize this fact. I remember a very famous person during the second world war wrote some words about some of them. The major meaning is that they try to escape from their responsibility to avoid troubles when other people are killed and tortured by Nazi people. They thought that that was not their business because they were not part of that group. Therefore, they were blind to what happened to the people around them. Finally, it came to their turn and at that moment there was no one who could stand up to rescue them. Generally, prevent other from being turned bad is a preventative way of protecting ourselves.

Secondly, one of the most important qualities of being a believer is to behavior like God. God is a fair God with love and justice. If we really love people, how can we neglect their mistreatment by other people? Definitely, we are not able to execute the final judgement which is the privilige of God; however, we can employ our own power and influence as a human being to fulfill that justice. For instance, we can try our best to prevent stealing, raping and robbery from happening by fighting agaist the evil. We should not cover our eyes to let that happen. Just as what bible says, God favor the person who saved the people with injure on their way to the church. God love the people behavior more like God than some who just regually visit church and offer their whorship. There is no doubt that worshipping is very important and necesary.

To be continued.
