Balance between overreaction and emotions

Being emotional could be viewed positive, sometimes also be regarded as negative reaction depending on the perspective and situations. For instance, hatred feeling towards the corrupt scandals is a kind of reflection of just and love to the victims. However, for others, they may think that kind of corruption and scandals have nothing to do with their life and should not be talked about emotionally.

Actually, no reaction or no emotion do not mean that they are more rational that the overactive people. Most cases, they are more likely failing to realize the seriousness of the scandals. They tend to regard and separate the scandals as the political issues which is almost irrelevant to their needs. Unfortunately, the failure of realization keep them away from being really concerned about the change of their life.

The common example should be the life of many immigrants. Generally, 95 percent of immigrants to the developed countries have been driven by something beyond the materials even though they probably look for the materialistic enjoyment. The factors, like salary difference, resource richness, credibility etc are attributed to the politics and values beyond of their mental reach. The most unfortunate thing is that they could be not able to realize that or reluctant to explore it in their life as they keep complaining all the way to death.

Intelligence too little to judge others

Like many people, i am often tempted by my sins inside to judge others based on some negative impression. Many times, I realized that suspending my judgement should be the best way and leave the judgement to my Lord. However, I failed many times. Today, I just learned the lessons from my car failure. I hate myself to devalue and belittle others even though they might be more friendly to me than others I might honor. That is stupid. Many times, It is the people I belittle really like to offer their help to me during my tough time, not other people.

I tend to be the person I hate, but fail to be the person I like.

Sad with Yinyin

The tragic incident took many lives including parents of the 2 years little girl, Yinyin. As most of things happened in China, time is the best way for the government to mitigate the anger and attention of the public. As people have been getting used to the mistreatment and wrongdoings of the government, they shift their concern to other entertaining issues instead of thinking over and taking lessons from the tragic incidents. As many months passed, the pictures of Yinyin on internet is still powerful enough for me to burst into tears. The stimulate my anger and hopelessness regarding to the fate of the nation. Compassion and sympathy is far from the remedy to cure the physical and psychological shock to the little girl. She is the victim of the system, but who is not the victim of the system.

王小波的精神遗产-杜君立

生死迅疾,人命无常,富贵难求,从吾所好,则不著书,其又何以为活也。——金圣叹


据 说,本雅明曾经梦想写一本完全由引文所构成的著作,通过把马克思的语录重新组合而写成,就像蒙太奇捕获形象那样,使所有的意义都将得到确切的保留,只是加 以重新理解。我刚开始买书和读书的时候,就遇到了王小波。就像一个摘抄名言锦句的中学生,我甚至曾经试图编一本《王小波语录》。正如本雅明所想,用一篇几 乎由引文构成的文章来纪念王小波,似乎可以让我看到一个不一样的王小波。

有一个选择题:两种职业,一个是一周只上一节课混吃等死的大学教授,一个是默默无闻只能靠卖文为生的“自由撰稿人”,二者之间,你会选哪个?相信大多数人会选教授,但王小波选择了清贫的后者。他把自由和思想看成一个知识分子最重要的追求,而不是名与利。

米兰·昆德拉说:“真正的作家永远是一匹害群之马。”如果说余秋雨是文人中的政客,那么王蒙就是政客中的文人,他们都算不上是知识分子,王小波是一个真正 的知识分子。美国社会学家刘易斯·科塞说过,大学教授不一定是知识分子,知识分子必须是“为了思想而不是靠了思想而生活的人。”王小波则进一步指出:对一 位知识分子来说,成为思维的精英,比成为道德精英更为重要。

宁可鸣而死,不可默而生。权利就是一种话语权,话语产生权力。有人说,通往地狱的路是由无数沉默者铺成的,沉默就是放弃权力和权利。王小波说:再不说话, 人家都要把屎抹在你脸上了。于是王小波开始说话,“自从我辈成人以来,所见到的一切全是颠倒着的。在一个喧嚣的话语圈下面,始终有个沉默的大多数。既然精 神原子弹在一颗又一颗地炸着,哪里有我们说话的份?但我辈现在开始说话,以前说过的一切和我们都无关系——总而言之,是个一刀两断的意思。千里之行始于足 下,中国要有自由派,就从我辈开始。”

人人有权争胜负,无人有权论是非。如果说鲁迅是一个尼采主义者,那么王小波则是一个罗素主义者。1997年3月20日,王小波给即将出版的《我的精神家 园》写了自序。22天之后,这个怀有一颗宁静童心的中年人飘然而去。王小波说:我泄露了上帝的秘密。在后王小波时代,这篇文章被编入普通高中语文读本。

王小波一直是我书架旁的偶像。在某种意义上,王小波是我的一个理想和梦想,是我精神的楷模。我如此喜欢他的智慧和性情,如此理解他的幽默和绝望。我是如此 向往他清贫而宁静的自由:活过,爱过,写过;甚至,我希望能像他一样在未老之前死在自己的电脑边,而不是苟延残喘垂死挣扎地死在病床上……这才叫真正的人 生,这才叫真实的生活啊。王小波用他安祥而短暂的一生,证明了一个人在中国如何最大限度地保留有趣的自己,而不是出卖无趣的自己。

“在一个宽松的社会里,人们可以收获优雅,收获到精雕细刻的浪漫;在一个呆板的社会里,人们可以收获到幽默——起码是黑色的幽默。就是在我呆的这个社会 里,什么也收获不到,这可是让人吃惊的事情。”如果说苏格拉底是愤青的鼻祖的话,那么王小波就是当代中国愤青的领袖,是中国一代白领的精神兄长,《我的精 神家园》也是中国一代小资的精神家园。“朝闻道,夕死可矣”。王小波说:“我对自己的要求很低:我活在世上,无非想要明白这些道理,遇见些有趣的事。倘能 如我愿,我的一生就算成功。”

深受王小波启蒙影响的作家连岳说:“王小波写的东西并不多,但足够证明我原来生活的形态与脑子是坏的。王小波说的是常识,这并不能降低他的地位,把常识说得好,反而是功德无量的事情。这就是所谓的启蒙,重要的思想,只有当它成为常识时,才更加重要。”

“君子谋道不谋食。”卢梭一生以抄乐谱为生;梵高生前几乎没有卖出一幅画;卡夫卡只是一个平庸的公务员;本雅明承认:“有很多地方我可以挣最低限度的钱, 也有很多地方我可以靠最低限度的钱过活,但没有一个地方可以让我同时做到这两点”。王小波生前只出版了《黄金时代》,书名还被篡改为《王二风流史》。即使 这样,书也没卖出多少。王小波甚至考取了货车的驾照:“有一天实在混不下去了,就靠这个吧。”在自由的王小波背后,是李银河默默的支持,这就是所谓爱情。
 
正如卡夫卡所说:“任何一个在活着的时候不能应付生活的人都需要用一只手遮挡住笼罩他命运的绝望……但他可以用另一只手草草记下在废墟上看到的一切,因为 他和别人看到的不一样,而且看到的更多;总之,虽然他在有生之年就已死去,但却是真正的获救者。”王小波生前,李银河对别人介绍说:他叫王小波,是我的丈 夫,是写小说的。王小波死后,李银河常常自我介绍说:我是作家王小波的妻子。从生前的默默无闻、自费出书、像农民工一样背着自己的书到处兜售,到死后出版 社热抢,书商将王小波的书作为摇钱树,甚至连他的情书都不放过。王小波似乎秉承了本雅明的精神和命运,如果说本雅明是“欧洲最后一位知识分子”,那么王小 波就是“中国最后一位知识分子”。当那些生前声名赫的名流显贵早已湮没在历史尘埃中时,死后的王小波和本雅明一样声名鹊起,这既是一种王小波式的嘲讽,也 算是一种本雅明式的历史公正。梁文道说,王小波是一种炒作起来的神话。我则认为,王小波是我们这个文明古国最残忍最荒诞的思想标签。

在一个前互联网的时代,王小波感叹,出书比写书难得多。他的愿望是他的作品可以拥有读者,这愿望竟然被作为遗愿实现了。作为一个大众写作时代的预言家,他 在《白银时代》中这样解释一个人写作的原因:“假如你懒得做饭,可以喝生鸡蛋,喝4个可以顶一顿饭;假如你没烟抽,可以在床底下找烟头,烟头太干了就在烟 纸上舔一舔。有一件事我不教你就会——当你百无聊赖时,就会坐在桌前,拿起一支笔往纸上写,也可能是写日记,也可能是写诗,但是不管你起初是写什么,最后 一定会写小说。不管你有没有才能,最后一定能写好——只要你足够无聊、足够无奈。最后你还会变成这方面的天才,没有任何人比得上你——这可能是因为无聊, 也可能是因为喝生鸡蛋,也可能是因为抽干烟屁。假如邻居打老婆,吵得你写不下去,你就喊:打!打!使劲打!打死她!——他就不会打了……”

王小波以他的才情、智慧、思想和诚意证明,真实的中国永远在民间,高高的庙堂之上,不过都是些毫无生趣的泥塑神像。王小波以他的生动伟岸创造出了中国文学最丰美的收获,让人们看到了民间思想的无限生命力,正如孔子曾言:“礼失求诸野。”

古来圣贤皆寂寞,是真名士自风流。王小波是个真正的名士和隐士,他推崇尊重,包括对人的尊重、对智慧的尊重。对经历过文革劫难和中国教育体制双重“锤炼” 的当代中国人来说,王小波是现代文明和理性智慧的启蒙者。他在犬儒化反智化的当下,更显得像个彻头彻尾的异教徒。王小波以他的真诚和智性,刺穿了传统专制 文化所谓道貌岸然的画皮——对专制思想来说,体现生命本质的人性从来都是洪水猛兽。

 

王小波始终对启蒙这个词保持着警惕。他蔑视一切权威和精英主义,始终保持着一种平视的平民精神。这种平民精神在中国作家群体中是独一无二的。即使出身卑微 的许多“农民的儿子”,其“发达了”的精英姿态仍随处可见。李银河将王小波称作“骑士”,实际是褒扬他的守望精神,守望一个神圣的精神家园。“一个人只拥 有此生是不够的,他还应该拥有诗意的世界!”王小波认为,这种诗意是建立在智慧和自由之上的诗意。

“智慧本身是好的,有一天我们都会死去,追求智慧的道路还会有人在走着。死掉以后的事我看不到。但我活着的时候,想到这件事,心里就高兴。”王小波以他的温存和得体,为我们打通了一条智慧的通道。

“我认为低智、偏执、思想贫乏是最大的邪恶。”王小波为我们塑造了“一头特立独行的猪”,誓死捍卫自己的尊严与权利。后王小波时代,不乏有人做“王小波门 下走狗”,这无疑是王小波所反对的,在王小波看来,独立与理性比什么都重要。拥趸与情感往往使人智力低下,狂热的粉丝与暴怒的群氓从来都是反智的产物。

“李卫公死了以后,红拂也不想活了,她想自杀死掉,但是大唐朝制度严明,一切都要纳入计划,所以她每天都要往各种衙门跑,给自己办理殉夫的手续。官员们对她很客气,对她的打算也很赞成,但是还是要她等指标……”王小波在《红拂夜奔》中如是说。

“我看到一个无智的世界,但是智慧在混沌中存在;我看到一个无性的世界,但是性爱在混沌中存在;我看到一个无趣的世界,但是有趣在混沌中存在”。王小波是 一个追求有趣的人,有趣的人是会死的,而且会比无趣的人死得还快,因为活得太长本身就很无趣。王小波曾经讲过一个草泥马的故事,故事里有一个有趣的长工和 无趣的地主。在后王小波时代,草泥马已经成为一种最知名的中国动物。

“立志写作在我身上是个不折不扣的减熵过程。……我相信我自己有文学才能,我应该做这件事。”王小波说,这个世界自始至终只有两种人:一种是像我这样的 人,一种是不像我这样的人。后王小波时代,也是一个韩寒时代。没有儿子的王小波殒命之际,与王小波同龄的作家韩仁均,将“韩寒”的笔名转交给了儿子,16 岁的“韩寒”遂成为“天才”。如果王小波是代表智慧的知识分子,那么“韩寒”则是代表名利的商业偶像。前者意味着寒室与失败,后者带来豪宅与成功,这就是 中国的阴阳两界。在一个陷入思想与道德双重贫困的中国,一个“不像”王小波的韩寒被群氓奉为“青年领袖”和偶像,也被精英们奉为“当代鲁迅”和“公知”, 他甚至为写作而感到“后悔”。

王小波无疑是中国最早开始电子化写作的先锋,甚至自己编写了电脑程序。他没有手稿,几乎所有的“遗作”,都在一台破旧的586电脑中。后王小波时代已经是 一个彻底的电脑时代,但韩寒却要处处“晒”手稿,让人分不清作家还是书法家。造化弄人,这个世界并没有变得更好,现实比写作更荒诞,因而也更黑色幽默。当 “四两拔干片”与“破着头发”成为典故,“光明与磊落”无疑使皇帝新装臻于完美。

在生命的最后,王小波正在写一篇幻想小说——《2010》,他在小说中预言了一个2010年的中国:这个国家只有两种人,一种是数盲,一种是非数盲。数盲 因为什么都不懂所以都成了统治者,非数盲因为能干只能做被统治者。“我对荒唐的理解是这样的:它和疼痛大有关系。我们的生活一直在疼痛之中,但在一般条件 下疼得不厉害,不足以发人深省……疼痛的真意:你的生命受到了威胁。轻度的疼痛是威胁的开始,中度的是威胁严重,等到要命的疼时,已经无路可逃了……” “我还要说,数盲把一切有危险的东西都拿走了,也就拿去了活下去的理由。等到明白了这一点,我们就会有最大的危险性——这是对他们而言。”

如今,2010已成往事。王小波早已在一个互联网前夜心痛地死于书桌,如同战士死于沙场。

在“阳光灿烂的日子”里,“每个人都觉得自己长脑子是多余的”。作为一个生动清醒的人,作为一个文革炼狱的幸存者,王小波曾经热烈自由而坚韧真诚地活过 ——满怀慈悲与温柔:“强忍悲痛,活在这个世上。”即使生命如彗星般短暂,也是那些从相同年代苟活(像狗一样活)下来的、或沉默的、或装神弄鬼的犬儒们所 不能相提并论。

如果说王朔是一个伪善的破坏者,那么王小波则依靠文学的真与美,解构了一个非人的传统,并且真诚地重建人性。王小波时刻提醒人们,理性与逻辑的重要。从现 实的疼痛感来说,王小波之后的中国鲜有后来者。李银河说王小波是自由思想家,我倒认为他和海子是一样的人,只是一个诚实纯洁、不愿撒谎的孩子。王小波说的 其实都只是一些常识,而我们都已经失去了这种本来的童真和勇气。在忘却现实的荒诞与疼痛之后,我们都沦为心灵与良知的叛徒。

王小波在《一只特立独行的猪》中说:“我已经四十岁了,除了这只猪,还没见过谁敢于如此无视对生活的设置。相反,我倒见过很多想要设置别人生活的人,还有 对被设置的生活安之若素的人。因为这个原故,我一直怀念这只特立独行的猪。”没有了那只特立独行的猪,这个世界只剩下一个完美的动物庄园。

“文字是用来读的,不是用来看的。”王小波是孤独的,王小波的孤独是喧哗和运动背景下的孤独,这种孤独既令人绝望,又催发希望,王小波的写作一直徘徊在绝 望和希望之间,这种暖味是王小波的重要特牲之一,他告诉我们这个世界的不确定性,以及人的无限可能性。对于作为知识分子的王小波,至少有一点是确定的,那 就是他的博学、才华和敏锐的理性思辨,正是这种来自思想的光华,留给了我们关于一个当代中国与世界的巨大背景和思考空间。

“人间已无梁任公。”在《红拂夜奔》的最后,王小波颇为伤感地慨叹道:“一切都在无可挽回地走向庸俗。”没有王小波的时代注定少了许多趣味,但人们迎来了 互联网,这是一场草根的狂欢。在一个前所未有、物质丰裕的暴富时代,思想成为人类最后的奢侈品。人们面对思想和艺术时会问:这可以换来钱吗?欲望与成功的 时代,名与利正横扫一切。王小波之后,中国不再有名士,但不乏沽名钓誉的犬儒与流氓。

15年来,王小波逐渐成为一个有关拒绝与思考的传说,他只在我们心中微微地坏笑——“人类宁愿死去也不愿意思考”(罗素)。4月是鲜花迷离的时节,非常适合怀念不在人间、不在中国、不在现场的王小波:“走在寂静里,走在天上,而阴茎倒挂下来……”

当理性与启蒙渐行渐远,金钱与名利就成为精英阶层的即时共识。


“中国人的思想有三种毒素:一是奴性的思想;二是专制的思想;三是昏乱的思想。我们的思想革命,不消说,大概就是变奴性的思想为独立的思想;变专制的思想为平民的思想;变昏乱的思想为逻辑的思想。”这是“五四运动”的命名者罗家伦先生的一段话。

“五四运动”过去已经将近一个世纪,如今,中国人不仅都学会了听话,也学会了考试。但从很大程度上,人们还没有学会阅读,更没有学会思考。对很多人来说, 既然可以接受代考、代笔,替代自己思考也就没有什么惊奇。人的成熟过程也就是启蒙的过程,从叛逆到建树,从情感到理智,理性与思考是一个人最终的归宿。等 到那时,已经没有什么品牌和偶像,只剩下自己一个人,因而也就失去了代考和代笔的理由。一个要做的,是必须自己填写一份人生的答卷,这就是生活的考试。
 

Challenges for Group Work

Group work is challenging if the group members are not good enough to be committed and active. To be successful, the group should have a leader who should be capable of coordinating and be familiar with the project. It is so important for each group member to follow the rules and reach the agreement. The disciplining should be applied to promote the commitment and punish the laziness. Otherwise, the group work is likely to fall into chaos.

Communication and positive attitudes are key to the effectiveness of group work. The level of ability to carry out some work differs within members. In order to reach some agreement to have the work done, some members have to listen others' advice and digest. It is essential that some people have to compromise in terms of their own perspective and plan. The disaster happens when some members who are not active, lazy, disable, and inexperienced show disrespect to some member who really commit time and effort on the project. The are not willing to listen, to think and accept others' diligent and reasonable work just because they do not want to feel inferior to other members. In this case, the work could either fail without any outcome or produce the bad quality work by the good compromise the bad.

中国已经走到了不得不变的关键时刻。无论在野的刘晓波,还是在朝的习近平,身上都有知青的烙印。若能以共同的历史经 历为搭建共识的平台,习近平才有可能成为继往开来的人物。同样当过知青的陈嘉映的忠告,是说给习近平以及所有“长袖善舞,多钱善贾”的知青中的“成功者” 们听的,只是,他们愿意倾听吗——
“我们曾经追求政治自由,如今,一些人已经身居国家机器的顶端。我们曾经以清贫艰苦为荣,如今,一些人身家亿万.我 们曾经热爱真理,如今,一些人主持着各式各样的国家项目。真理、自由、品格,不像我们年轻时想像得那样单纯、那样简单,它们要通过不断融入现实才能实现. 但若我们这代人自得於今朝,任我们曾经有过的精神力量流失,凭你国家领导,凭你福布斯名列前茅,凭你在各国电影节上获奖,我们仍只是过气去势的一代而 已。”

LOVE IS CONTAGIOUS

love is the best driving force for people to interact with others and to enjoy the process. The perspective is able to totally change the way of which people choose to live in the world. Some people who already possess the fortune to support their whole life find it hard to lead a happy life. Oppositely, the poor in terms of material possession could have the life the rich want to have. Therefore, there is a fact that have encountered many people. What is the objective to live, being slavery or being happy? Unfortunately, many people do not have chance to realize this question or to think or to answer it in their lives.

Shyam is grateful that I contribute my almost whole day with him buying car and registration. However, for me I feel some peace in my heart. I believe the peace comes from God.

 余  杰:破解共产党与孔夫子的伪联盟 ——评庄万寿《中国民族主义与文化霸权》

与庄万寿一样,刘晓波思考的重点,是人何以为人,人的自由、尊严和权利为何不可剥夺;而不 是作为“中国人”,应当具有哪些“中国人的特性”。刘晓波强调:“在中国,很少有人强调作为一个人的选择,倒是天天能听到作为炎黄子孙的选择,这样,抽象 的民族群体代替了具体的个体,不是每个中国人作为人,经过自己思考后的选择,而是中华民族这个抽象的群体在替每个中国人选择。这与其说是爱国主义、民族自 尊,不如说是民族虚荣对个体自由的扼杀。”显而易见,这也是庄万寿全书的一条主线。

There are commonality and difference between the people who hold the similar thinking and value. 
Compassion could be the similar characteristic for a certain group of people; however, political difference could separate them from each other causing conflicts. This is in part caused by the ability to think over the something which have confronted them for many years. 

Unfortunately, the respected thinkers with so much common in humanistic value towards democracy and divinity even could not reach agreements on certain points. Generally speaking, they are consciously or unconsciously restricted by the education they have received. In addition to the limited intelligence of human being, they have not realized the lack of thoughts over some issue. For instance, nationality plays the dominant role in forming people's thinking over the last centuries in China. The have been toughted by their ancesters and teachers that being proud of being a Chinese is necessary merit for every Chinese people. Even the people who were mistreat and tortured by the ruler have the overwhelming idea that they should never forget being a Chinese even though they have been staying in America for many years. It seems that they do not have be responsible for being an American citizen and they should be a Chinese forever. 


This is a pity because they could never realize a fact that the reason to create a country is to serve the a group of people better. Therefore human being themselves is the core of the world under God other than a country or a nation. Overemphsizing the group or a nation was the way of the ruler in the past to teach them to serve the centralized authority. In fact, they have been brain washed for many year to give up their basic rights as a human being to be a part of group to serve the one figure who is the king. However, many educated people still fail to realize that.

Pray for Godly heart

Our hearts are blessed and gifted by our creator, God. The heart which is unique to everyone acts as the compass in our life. The evil heart lead to the the evil value and should be against the good and have their own way to the hell. In contrast, the kind heart enables us to sail to the lamp poll which directs us the position of God, our creator.

It is no doubt that surrounding environment have significant influence on the formation of our personality and values. However, the core of every individual is the identifiable stone installed by God before we were born. The heart, for some people is full of love and sympathy and appreciation. Some is filled with complaints, injustice, materialism. This deviation causes the difference of lives.
